ENVEL DESIGN – along with five other design firms – showcased “unconventional designs” in the recent Network of Executive Women in Hospitality’s (NEWH) Los Angeles founding chapter's holiday soiree and scholarship presentation.
NEWH is a networking organization for hospitality industry professionals.
The highlight of the gala was a fashion show where the six hospitality design firms showcased garments made from decorating materials commonly used in their design projects. The gowns were auctioned, with the profit used for the NEWH scholarship.
Beverly Hills-based SR3 Design came up with a 1930s-inspired evening gown that incorporates Italian silks by Brochier, and Indian cotton/poly blends by Soleil Blue. Glass-beaded wall coverings by Innovations Wallcoverings embellish the overskirt, and acrylic rings by ENVEL DESIGN, colored glass discs by Preciosa, and metal adorn a hat that completes the ensemble.
The total proceeds from the gala were estimated at $30,000 and the gown by SR3 Design earned $1,500 at auction. Eleven students pursuing higher education in the hospitality industry were awarded $40,000 in scholarships.
